Ireland Symbols

What Ireland symbols most represent the country to you?

We all know them when we see them. There are many, from the well known Shamrocks and Leprechauns to the more obscure.

We attempt to list and analyze them here.

All nations, countries and regions have their own symbols and objects which helps make them recognizable on the world stage.

Some examples of buildings and structures which have become symbols of their country or city..

  • The Statue of Liberty
  • The Empire State Building
  • The Golden Gate Bridge
  • The Sydney Opera House
  • Big Ben
  • The Eiffel Tower
  • The Taj Mahal

Few people would be in much doubt about which countries are being represented

At the other end of the scale, smaller more intimate items can come to represent a country, such as flags, food and clothing.

Below is a selection that represents what says 'Ireland' to the world

Four Leaf Clover
The Irish Flag
Irish Red Hair
The Harp

Another mythical icon, the Leprechaun, doing an Irish Jig no doubt. Both of which many Irish find derogatory, which is a shame. Embrace your myths and wallow in em I say.
