But yes, in general it's more likely to be raining or mizzling* and misty, than not. And it's much more likely to be cloudy than sunny. But hey, every cloud has a silver lining (sorry) Why do you think we have such beautiful soft fair skin as a nation.. And if we didn't have the climate we have, we wouldn't be known as the Emerald Isle.. There's a price to pay for all this beauty!
* Mizzling - a light constant rain, too much to be classed as mist or fog, not quite enough to be classed as rain - real rain anyway. A drizzle - Ireland does mizzling very very well. - This is not to be confused with Middling - which means OK, alright, not great but ok.. eg * 'How are you doing today Paddy? Ah, I'm fair to middlin..' But sometimes he'll say 'Ah, I'm only middlin..' - which actually means 'I'm not that well today..'
This is due to it's unique position in the Atlantic Ocean and it's proximity to the Gulf stream.

It can become humid in July and August with Thunder storms occurring.With no area of Ireland lying more than 70 miles from the coast, the ocean has a enormous influence of Ireland's climate. With an average temperature variation between summer and winter being around 20ºF (10ºC), Ireland climate is more consistent than continental areas of the world. The wettest areas are in the mountains and highlands and in the areas to the east of the mountains due to the prevailing south-westerly wind. Galway, Donegal and Kerry would be among the wettest areas. The east coast enjoys the driest weather, especially the low lying areas. Co Kildare and Dublin usually enjoy the driest weather. The south enjoys the warmest weather, with the north and the inland areas away from the coast and the influence of the ocean being the coldest.
